JOE WIEGAND
TEDDY ROOSEVELT IMPERSONATOR

Joe Wiegand is a talented performer and scholar with a unique ability to bring history to life for audiences young and old.

A political science graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and a former graduate assistant at the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, Joe has spent over thirty years involved in the study of American history, government and foreign policy.

Inspired by great Americans, Joe excelled in his studies and in community leadership roles. For his leadership and academic achievements, Joe was named a Century III Leader by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and was elected the Governor of the American Legion Boys State and President of the American Legion Boys Nation. TIME Magazine named Joe one of America’s 100 Outstanding College Students and he was awarded both a Harry S Truman Scholarship and a Thomas Watson Fellowship. As a Watson Fellow, Joe conducted post-graduate studies, interviewing national parliamentarians in Costa Rica, South Africa, Italy, the Philippines and South Korea.

Joe travels the country with his wife of twenty years, Jenny, his young daughter, Samantha and their golden retriever, Faith.

Since 1988, the Wiegand family has called Joe’s native Northern Illinois DeKalb County home. Following TR’s counsel to live a vigorous life and to be the man in the arena, Joe has served as an elected county commissioner, a board member of various not-for-profits and senior warden at his church. Professionally, Joe has a background in public policy and campaign management, where he has a solid reputation for insight, leadership and good humor.

“So many of TR’s contemporaries testify to the way TR captivated and entertained audiences with inspirational and humorous stories from his youth, his ranching days, Cuba and the Presidency. I really enjoy sharing TR’s funny stories of life in the White House with six kids or telling anecdotes from his adventures in Africa and South America. TR is so big and so exciting! I enjoy sharing a unique show with each and every audience, often adding original material based on local history or the characteristics of the sponsoring organization. Call me today, and we’ll perform a great show for your group.” – Joe Wiegand
